The Mystery Stone

I saw this lone strand unmarked and loved it immediately. I didn't know what it was or how much it cost, but I really wanted it. When I asked the dealer more information about it, he wasn't sure either; but finally decided that it was Spectrolite. I think he was completely wrong. I purchased this gorgeous strand of mystery gemstone anyway. I know I'll find wonderful things to create with it, but I'm hoping someone can tell me what it is.

Wow Spectrolite? He didn't know what the hell he was talking about. If I had to venture an absolute guess based on the few images, I would say moss amethyst. It is quite unique!

It looks to me like hematite quartz.

"Spectrolite" is actually an appropriate name for a mystery stone when you think about it. The Specter! It's lovely, none the less. Maybe raw ruby or tourmaline? And, correct me if I'm wrong, but spectrolite is a kind of labradorite. Yes?

I contacted Opalillusions on Etsy about this dilemma and he said it is Oregon Sunstone from the Ponderosa Mine. He specializes in Oregon Sunstone, so I completely trust his assesment. He said he sells similar strands for 5 times what I paid for mine. =) Yay for awesome finds!
